Professional School Nurse (RN)

Freedom Area School District is looking for a dedicated and professional School Nurse (RN) to join our educational team. The successful candidate will manage the health services programs based on requirements established by school procedures and protocols, and guidelines by local, state, and national regulatory statutes.

Key Responsibilities:
● Provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to
students and staff in response to the nursing assessment and in accordance with
professional standards, school policy and procedures, and state and local mandates.
● Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers necessary

The Assistant Superintendent of Schools serves as the chief academic officer and supervises on a constant, ongoing basis the translation of the District's educational philosophy, goals, and objectives into active terms that directly benefits each individual student. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for:

  • Supervising the development, planning implementation and evaluation of the K-12 education program.
  •  Provides leadership for the instructional program; provides support to schools in implementing district adopted curriculum, staff development, leadership development, and instructional improvement programs.
  • Coordinates and supervises the curriculum development and textbook selection process, the district testing program, and grant writing and monitoring.
  • Oversees the District’s compliance with guidelines, mandates and regulations governing instructional matters.

The Assistant Superintendent also serves in an advisory capacity relative to matters of school finance and business management such as budgets, school building construction, and transportation as they relate to instructional services. He/she serves as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and in this capacity advises the Superintendent of Schools in matters dealing with general administration of the school district and in matters associated with instructional affairs.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years' successful experience in school administration at the Principal level. Central Office experience preferred but not required.
  • Doctoral Degree preferred.
  • Pennsylvania Letter of Eligibility required.
  • Extensive experience in and sophisticated knowledge of curriculum, best practices in instruction and assessment, school operations and management and leadership development.
  • Demonstrated record of success in leading strategic educational initiatives that result in measurable improved student achievement.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal employment laws, including ADA, FMLA, worker’s compensation, workplace safety, labor relations and other human resource regulations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, organizational acumen and a commitment to excellence.
