Hearing Support Teacher

Deadline: Until filledThe Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hearing Support Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss, preschool through high school. This role involves direct student services, collaboration with general education staff, consultative services to school districts, and professional development activities. The ideal candidate is committed to promoting self-advocacy, communication, and academic success for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- PA Teaching Certification in Hearing Impaired PK-12 is required.

The Hearing Support Teacher will:
- Provide direct services to students, including push-in classroom support and individual pull-out sessions, as indicated in students’ IEPs
- Teach and support development of auditory, language, speechreading, literacy, communication, and self-advocacy skills
- Promote student self-advocacy and understanding of how hearing loss impacts learning
- Monitor the use and functionality of hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems, and other assistive devices
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt teaching strategies and recommend classroom modifications and accommodations
- Conduct in-services for general education staff regarding educating students with hearing loss
- Provide consultative services to districts regarding the educational, social, and emotional needs of students with hearing loss
- Collaborate with Educational Audiologists on audiology-related concerns and troubleshoot HAT (Hearing Assistive Technology)
- Evaluate students for eligibility for Hearing Support services and appropriate service delivery models
- Develop evaluation reports, re-evaluation reports, and IEPs in compliance with PDE timelines
- Participate in MDT conferences and ensure compliance with PDE regulations
- Monitor student progress and submit required progress reports and other mandated documentation
- Prepare detailed schedules, yearly calendars, and efficient travel routes for service delivery
- Maintain professional certification requirements, including Act 48 hours, and participate in ongoing professional development

School Psychologist

Deadline: Until filledThe Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit is seeking a School Psychologist to arrange for assistance in the form of designing or accomplishing of assessment procedures that support academic and/or behavioral interventions such as Instructional Support Team (IST), School Age Parents (SAP), Response to Instruction and Interventions (RTII), School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS), psychological counseling as Related Service (RS), Concussion and School Reentry, Anti-Bullying, Crisis Prevention and Intervention and other pre-referral activities for our local school districts.
- PA Certification as a School Psychologist K-12, required.
- One year of a supervised internship, required.
- Masters Degree in School Psychology, required.
The School Psychologist will:
- Provide consultation and follow-up with the district school staff and administration on the application of psychological principles and knowledge to the curriculum and to the classroom instruction.
- Participate in the evaluation of district students experiencing significant educational adjustment difficulties, which interfere with expected student development and learning via the Multidisciplinary Evaluation (MDE) process.
- Provide and follow-up to develop and maintain skills that will enhance an individual district student’s educational performance.
- Provide consultation and follow-up with parents, district school staff and administrators in regard to the educational and psychological needs of students who have been referred for a Section 504 or special education evaluation.
- Participate in the assessment of the educational progress and adjustment of eligible district students through periodic reevaluations under 14.25 (f) and 342.25 (1).
- Create a system of liaison referrals and follow-up with psychological support resources available.
- Organize, manage, and implement psychological testing.
- Provide consultation with administration regarding district-wide assessment and program evaluation.
- Attend IEP meetings/504/evaluation/re-evaluation meetings as requested by districts.
- Develop and provide staff development activities for administration, professional staff, instructional support staff and parents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
