The Chartiers Valley School District is a Pennsylvania public school district located just 20 minutes southwest of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County. The Chartiers Valley School District seeks candidates to fill a Director of Finance and Operations position effective August 2024. Minimum qualifications include:

     Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or related discipline, required.

     MBA or CPA preferred.

     Pennsylvania Registered School Business Administrator preferred.

     Five or more years of experience in public sector business and finance administration.

Salary is negotiable based on experience.

This is a full-time, 12-month position.

Instrumental Music Teacher (Grades 5-12)

Position Overview:

As an Instrumental Music Teacher, you will play a crucial role in inspiring and guiding our students in their musical journey. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement a comprehensive instrumental music curriculum for 5th through 12th grade students, nurturing their musical talents and fostering a love for music. Additionally, you will take on the role of Marching Band Director, overseeing all aspects of the marching band program, including rehearsals, performances, and competitions.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Develop and implement a standards-based instrumental music curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.

·         Teach instrumental music classes to 5th through 12th grade students, focusing on technique, music theory, ensemble playing, and performance skills.

·         Conduct rehearsals and prepare students for concerts, parades, and other performances throughout the school year.

·         Collaborate with other faculty members to coordinate music programs and events.

·         Serve as the Marching Band Director, leading rehearsals and preparing the band for performances at football games, parades, and festivals.

·         Recruit and retain students for the instrumental music program and marching band.

·         Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged to reach their full potential.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

·         Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Music Education (or eligibility for certification).

·         Experience teaching instrumental music at the secondary level, with a strong background in marching band instruction.

·         Proficiency in conducting and rehearsing instrumental ensembles.

·         Knowledge of music theory, pedagogy, and repertoire across various musical genres.

·         Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve musical excellence.

Supplemental Contract Position:

This position includes a supplemental contract for leading the marching band program. The supplemental contract will encompass additional responsibilities beyond regular teaching duties and will be compensated accordingly.

•       PA School Business Officials - Registered School Business Administrator preferred. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and financial software.
